Not sure if I mentioned this before but I am an attorney and I specialize in the Lemon Law. If I have, I haven’t actually gotten into the meat of it in a year or so. At least, not in the podcast.
All 50 states have lemon laws and they tend to follow the same outline. New cars and trucks that cannot be repaired within a given time frame must be bought back or replaced by the manufacturer.
Seems simple enough but there is a lot of nuance in there. Which takes me just a tad under 20 minutes to explain. Obviously, there is a lot more to it but you’ll get the rough outline here. And, if nothing else, I explain what you need to do to protect your rights BEFORE your car becomes a lemon.
So, here is the audio:

This website may supply general information about the law but it is for informational purposes only. This does not create an attorney-client relationship and is not meant to constitute legal advice, so the good news is we’re not billing you by the hour for reading this. The bad news is that you shouldn’t act upon any of the information without consulting a qualified professional attorney who will, probably, bill you by the hour.

Sounds like that would be (or will be) a Lemon Law claim. He needs to contact a local lawyer and start gearing up.

Steve I sent you an email a while back and asked for some advice on doing a lemon law replacement. I want to thank you. A couple months ago I received my replacement vehicle.
I think it is important to say again, document everything! I had an intermittent problem and was having a hard time getting the service department to document the visits. If they could not reproduce the problem in the service department the manufacturer would not accept the visit as a repair attempt. I started videotaping with my phone the problem stating my name and mileage each time it occurred. The manufacturer actually accepted my request for a replacement without having to file.

North Carolina but grew up in Bay City, MI. I had the Jeep Renegade with the heated seats and steering wheel that wouldn’t shut off. You suggested I not do the arbitration.
